The third edition of the Berenberg Bank Masters on the European Senior Tour is set to be contested at a new venue in Wörthsee Golf Club in Bavaria from June 29 – July 1, 2012.
The Links at Fancourt in South Africa hosted the inaugural tournament in 2010 and featured the third of three successive victories by Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit. Earlier this year, the event which is title-sponsored by the Berenberg Bank, Germany’s oldest private bank, was played at Cologne Golf and Land Club, when Welshman Ian Woosnam captured the fourth title of his Senior Tour career.
Dr Hans-Walter Peters, on behalf of the Berenberg Bank, confirmed the switch of location from Cologne to Wörthsee, located 20kms west of Munich. He said: "We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of this successful tournament and we expect, once again, to welcome the leading players of the European Senior Tour to Germany.
Erwin Langer added: "We have already set high standards over the past two years of the event on the European Senior Tour and are convinced that the new venue will enable us to improve even further."
Konrad Gritschneder, President of Wörthsee Golf Club, commented: "The Board and our Members are happy and are proud to align ourselves with an international professional tournament at our club. The course is located at Gut Schluifeld southwest of Munich in the Five-Lakes Region and close to the Bavarian capital. We look forward to the top players from the European Senior Tour coming to play next year.”
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, welcomed the return of the Berenberg Bank Masters to Germany for a second successive year and said: “We are delighted to visit a new venue in Wörthsee Golf Club in the beautiful setting of Bavaria. Thanks to the excellent support from the Berenberg Bank and the dedication and professionalism of Langer Sport Marketing, the first two editions of the tournament have been outstanding.

Woosnam, the former Masters Champion, is set to defend the Berenberg Bank Masters in 2012. Also teeing up next June will be Bernhard Langer, the German golfing legend and two-time Major Champion who is competing close to his hometown of Anhausen and is sure to attract big local galleries as he attempts to add the Berenberg Bank Masters to his life of global titles.
