Woods wins February Shot of the Month

Often it can be hard to decide which shot should win European Tour Shot of the Month but fans were in no doubt about who should win the February award.

Tiger Woods received over two thirds of all votes, winning February’s Shot of the Month for his miraculous bunker escape in Mexico.

Woods beat out competition from Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Alex Levy to win the prize, voted for by fans on Twitter.

Having driven into the fairway bunker on the par four ninth hole, during his second round at the WGC-Mexico Championship, Woods debated his approach before electing to cut a nine iron around the tree in front of him.

What happened next was one of the great Tiger Woods’ shots.

“To slice a nine iron like that was pretty good!”

Talking toGolfTV after his round, Tiger said “I first had wedge out, thinking I could carry it over the tree. Then I realised I might not be able to carry it high enough so I looked right but if I stuck the club in the ground it could hit a tree and go out of bounds. I went back to an eight iron but realised that was too much club so ended up with a nine and hit it with a big, old duck slice.”

Tune in each month on Twitter to vote for which shot you think should win Shot of the Month.
