• His ninth European Tour International Schedule victory in his 123rd European Tour event.
• Moves to second in the Official World Golf Ranking from fifth.

• His first Open Championship victory in his 20th appearance. This matches the record of Darren Clarke for the most appearances before winning the event for the first time.
• This victory beats his previous best Open Championship finish of tied second in 2011.
• This victory is his third top ten finish from his 20 appearances in The Open Championship.
• Has now a total of 35 career top ten finishes from his 84 Major Championship appearances.
• Has now won three of the four Major Championships. He won the Masters Tournament in 2004, 2006 and 2010, the US PGA Championship in 2005 and The Open Championship in 2013.

• He is the first player to achieve the feat of wining the week before a Major Championship then win a Major a week later, on two occasions. It is the tenth time overall this feat has been achieved in Major Championship history.
