Willett arrives in style

Masters Champion Danny Willett returned to the scene of his maiden European Tour triumph in style, arriving via private jet before being whisked off in a BMW to Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof, with a chance meeting with Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp thrown into the bargain.

Liverpool fan Willett, with his Green Jacket safely over his shoulder in a carry case, bumped into Klopp at Dusseldorf airport as the German was heading off on a family break.

Willett made his European Tour breakthrough in 2012 at Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof, defeating Marcus Fraser in a play-off, to set himself on a path which ultimately led to his Masters success in April.

“It’s nice to be back here,” said Willett, arriving in a BMW 750Li xDrive Sedan. “There are some lovely memories from that week. It was just more confirmation that I could compete out here and win. There are so many great players at the start of every week that it is very difficult to win and you never really know that you can do it until you get it over the line.

“So that win gave me a lot of belief and confidence and proved to me that I could win at a pretty high level. Any time you can be up there and in contention then your confidence grows.”
