Wiesberger makes welcome return in Mauritius

Bernd Wiesberger will make his long-awaited return from injury this week when he tees it up at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Anahita.

The Austrian has spent the last seven months on the sidelines with a wrist problem and his appearance at Four Seasons Golf Club is his first since April's Volvo China Open.

In that time he missed three of the four Major Championships, all eight Rolex Series events and the chance to potentially play his way onto the European Ryder Cup Team.

Despite that frustration, the four-time European Tour winner cut a positive figure in Beau Champ and was raring to get the competitive juices flowing once more.

"It's been a while," he said. "I've had a wrist injury since just after the Volvo China Open, around the beginning of May.

It's going to be fun to tee off again with a score card in hand - Bernd Wiesberger

"It's good to be out here again seeing the guys and good to be playing again. It's a lovely week to finally start off again.

"I'm lacking a lot of tournament experience over the last months but me and my team have worked hard to get me to positions to feel the flow of a competitive round. I'm sure I'll be able to handle it come Thursday but obviously it's going to be fun to tee off again with a score card in hand.

"I've been here a couple of times before on holiday and I was invited to play in a Pro-Am a couple of years ago, so I've actually been on the course yesterday and a couple of years back so I know what to expect.

"It's going to be windy but hopefully we'll get the worst of the weather today and tomorrow and hopefully some nice Mauritian sunshine over the weekend."
