Lee Westwood saw his lead at the Maybank Malaysian Open halved by Antonio Lascuna as the third round began at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
The Englishman, seventh in last week’s Masters Tournament, started the day four shots ahead of the chasing pack and added a birdie from 20 feet at the first.
However, the former World Number One then missed a short par putt at the next to slip back to 13 under.
The Philippines’ Lascuna matched Westwood’s gain at the first with a ten foot birdie and holed a 25 footer at the third to get to 11 under.
England’s Danny Willett was third on nine under, but Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts dropped to fourth on eight under following a bogey at the short fourth.
One of the biggest moves of the day was coming from Italian Matteo Manassero on his 21st birthday.
The 2011 winner turned in 32 then curled in a 30 footer at the tenth to be five under for the day and six under for the tournament.
Westwood found himself five in front when he birdied the long fifth, where 43 year old Lascuna hit his drive left into trees, then hit his fourth from the fairway into water and ran up a triple bogey eight.
At 14 under that left the 40 year old five ahead of compatriot Willett and Andy Sullivan, France’s Julien Quesne and Swede Rikard Karlberg.
