Lee Westwood swiftly resumed full control of the Maybank Malaysian Open when the final round began at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
The Englishman had seen his four shot lead whittled down to a single stroke by compatriot Andy Sullivan on Saturday, but the 40 year old needed only three holes to restore his advantage.
The 27 year old Sullivan found water at the second and hit a wayward fourth from the drop zone, eventually carding a triple bogey seven.
Both players birdied the long third, but that left Westwood on course for a 40th career victory and 13th in Asia as the former World Number One reached 15 under par.
Sullivan and another Englishman, Danny Willett, were on 11 under, with Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts and South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen a shot further back.
Willett birdied the seventh from 15 feet to close the gap to three - the 26 year old chasing a second European Tour title – and Sullivan joined him with a gain at the long fifth.
France’s Julien Quesne joined Sullivan and Willett in a share of second when he converted from 20 feet at the eighth for his fourth birdie of the day.
