Westwood reflects on bittersweet week

Lee Westwood looked back with mixed emotions after yet another top-ten Major Championship finish.

Regularly in the mix at the big four events, Westwood is one of the best players to never conquer the Everest of individual golf.

He entered the final day of the Masters Tournament with a chance on two under, yet ultimately settled for seventh following a closing 73.

That finish did, however, signal a return to form and – with three Majors left this year – Westwood feels he may be clicking into gear at the right time.

“There is a little bit of disappointment,” he admitted. “I wanted to get off to a quick start today and was three over after four

“The longest putt I’ve holed today is on the last from about three feet. I had a chance, although Bubba is eight under at the moment, but I didn’t put any pressure on.

“But I am seventh. That is my best result of the year and I think the work I am doing with Mike (Walker) my coach is taking me in the right direction.

“This tournament probably came a couple of weeks too early for me I think.”
