Westwood continues to progress

Lee Westwood birdied the par five second at Augusta National to move into outright second as the third round of The Masters Tournament began.

One behind Fred Couples and Jason Dufner overnight, Westwood was one under for the day and five under overall after four holes.

That was one behind Dufner – who came close to winning the last Major at the US PGA Championship last year – who also birdied the second.

As for Couples, at 52 the oldest player ever to hold the halfway lead at The Masters, he bogeyed the first two to drop to three  under.

Four Europeans were part of a six-way tie for third – Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Peter Hanson and Henrik Stenson all charging to four under par, along with Americans Sean O’Hair and Matt Kuchar.
