It is a huge honour to welcome the Betfred British Masters 2021 to The Belfry Hotel & Resort and again, to be a part of golfing history. It has been a tough 12 months filled with uncertainty, but we are delighted to see a positive outlook for the future of golf and look forward to welcoming players back on to the iconic Brabazon course.
The Betfred British Masters 2021 will mark the British Masters’ fourth visit to the resort, as The Belfry hosted the championship on three previous occasions between 2006 and 2008. In total, the resort has hosted 17 European Tour events and The Ryder Cup four times – more than any other venue in the world. Most recently, we were also very fortunate to successfully host the ISPS HANDA UK Championship in August 2020, which firmly placed The Belfry back on the tour agenda.
Ahead of the tournament, The Brabazon, which opened at The Belfry over 40 years ago has undergone a number of enhancements to bring it up to date with new technologies and to make it more challenging. The 160-acre course has been lengthened to 7,310 yards from 7,255 yards, and has received updates to the 8th, 10th and 18th holes which bring the prominent hazards back into play. The update also introduces new additional fourth tees to greatly improve the golfing experience while remaining a par 72 course.
Other changes to the resort include the refurbishment to our PGA Golf Academy which now offers a unique variety of Toptracer Range products on-site, enhancing our golf technology offering and adding to our already top-class facilities. Toptracer Range offers a fun experience for guests with any level of golfing experience from beginners and non-golfers to frequent players, to enjoy a wide range of games and activities with family and friends or to simply perfect their game. We are very excited to showcase our new and exciting features.
To ensure a safe environment for all players and team members, and that the tournament is a great success, Our Pledge To You’ initiative highlights our commitment to meeting the highest standards of cleanliness procedures and protocols across all areas of the resort.
I want to say a huge thank you to The Belfry and the European Tour teams for their amazing hard work and support in making the Betfred British Masters 2021 possible.
Play well.
Chris Eigelaar, Resort General Manager at The Belfry Hotel & Resort
