Jeunghun Wang and Jaco Van Zyl looked set to battle it out for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters title after both made blistering starts to their final rounds at Doha Golf Club.
Wang entered the day with a three-shot lead and made a birdie-birdie start but playing partner Van Zyl bettered that, birdieing his first three to get to 15 under and sit just two shots back.
Thomas Aiken, Nacho Elvira and Mike Lorenzo-Vera were then at 12 under, a shot clear of clubhouse leader Jorge Campillo.
Wang and Van Zyl both made birdies after laying up on the first, with Wang making a bit of a mess of his second but remedying that with an exquisite approach.
A 15-foot right-to-lefter handed Wang another gain on the second and when Van Zyl followed the South Korean in from ten feet, the duo were already threatening to break away from the rest of the field.
The South African then made it three out of three after an excellent tee-shot into the third and while Wang was closer, he could not make the putt.
Lorenzo-Vera had birdies on the first, third and sixth to move into a share of third alongside Elvira, who started with three pars, and Aiken who had birdied the third.
Campillo signed for a 66 to sit at 11 under alongside Rafa Cabrera Bello, Joakim Lagergren and Jordan Smith.
Thorbjørn Olesen made the second hole-in one of the week and the fourth of the season as he aced the par three 13th.
The Dane holed an eight iron from 182 yards to follow Chris Paisley's achievement on the 17th earlier in the week and join Jarrod Lyle and Jaco Van Zyl in the 2017 ace club.
