Wales' First Minister visits Senior Open

Wales’ First Minister Carwyn Jones visited Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on the final day of The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex, witnessing at first hand the huge success of the country’s first Senior Major Championship.

The First Minister greeted some of the players including runaway leader Bernhard Langer, US Ryder Cup Captain Tom Watson and double Senior Major Champion Colin Montgomerie, prior to the final round.

Coming four years after Wales hosted The Ryder Cup, The 2014 Senior Open Championship has once again captured the imagination of the Welsh public, attracting nearly 33,000 spectators by the end of play on Saturday.

Royal Porthcawl Golf Club has also been widely praised by the players, with three-time Senior Open proclaiming he “fell in love” with it immediately.
