Fresh off being named as theHilton European Tour Golfer of the Year, Molinari will be relying on fans' votes to help him earn yet another award to add to his 2018 trophy haul.

The 36 year old enjoyed a career season across the globe, triumphing at the BMW PGA Championship in May, the Quicken Loans Classic in the US and The Open Championship, where he became the first Italian to win a Major at Carnoustie.

After leading the European team to success at The Ryder Cup with a perfect five points from five matches, Molinari returned to competition on the European Tour at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, where he won the Race to Dubai title for the first time.

"It's been a very special year" Molinari said as he accepted the Hilton European Tour Golfer of the Year award on Monday. "Winning at Wentworth, in one of our biggest events, gave me a lot of confidence for the summer, but obviously winning The Open at Carnoustie, becoming my country’s first Major Champion, was incredible.

“To then go on to win the Race to Dubai and be part of that European Ryder Cup team in France was amazing. I’ll always look back on this season and be proud of what happened.”
