Volvo Scandinavian Masters

“The Volvo S80 is the most complete Volvo ever. The very high safety level combined with a number of other new features within design, high technology and environment, makes the Volvo S80 one of the strongest contenders in the segment and the appropriate award to a Volvo Scandinavian Masters winner,” says the President of Volvo Car Corporation, Tuve Johannesson.

The Volvo Scandinavian Masters will be one of the first opportunities that the Swedish public will have to view the Volvo S80 at close quarters. It will feature in the Volvo Group Exhibition by the clubhouse.

A second car, the Volvo V70 XC will be available as a hole in one prize on hole 16, measuring 202 yards. The car will be displayed on a raft in the middle of the lake, as an added encouragement to competitors.

This year’s tournament will be played in the Stockholm region for the third time, this time at a new venue, the European Tour Club. The course is situated 30 minutes north-west of the city, and will offer many spectacular challenges for the players. A lot of work has been put into making this year’s event a spectator friendly tournament, with new viewing galleries being erected, giving visitors much wider access to the course and players.

With eight of the twelve European Ryder Cup players such as Colin Montgomerie, José Maria Olazábal, Thomas Björn and Costantino Rocca confirming their participation, this year’s tournament is set to make for an intriguing four days. The spectators will also be looking forward to seeing the full cast of home stars led by defending champion Joakim Haeggman, Per-Ulrik Johansson and Jesper Parnevik.

“The high profile of professional golf in Europe matches perfectly with the high profile of our products and in particular the new Volvo car. Obviously, awarding two Volvo cars at the Volvo Scandinavian Masters adds to the attractiveness of the tournament and creates an extra incentive to the players,” says Mel Pyatt, President and CEO of Volvo Event Management.
