Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has been named the Official Car to the 2016 KLM Open, taking place at The Dutch in Spijk, Netherlands from September 8-11.
Volvo will provide courtesy cars for players and officials throughout the tournament week, and a Volvo S90 is up for grabs for the first player to have a hole-in-one on the 183-yard par-three 16th hole.
KLM Open Tournament Director Daan Slooter said: “We are very honoured to welcome Volvo to the KLM Open. Volvo is a familiar brand in international golf and has been a partner of golf tournaments worldwide for many years.
“I see a lot of similarities - the KLM Open is one of the oldest events on the European Tour, and Volvo has a long tradition reaching back to the mid-1920s and is one of the longest lasting partners of the European Tour.
“Volvo drivers are loyal to their brand and this applies to the visitors of the KLM Open as well.”
This year’s edition of the tournament marks the first time the event will take place at The Dutch, a European Tour Properties Destination, where Belgian Thomas Pieters will defend the title he won in 2015.
Previous winners of the event include Major Champions Darren Clarke, Martin Kaymer and José María Olazábal.
“The KLM Open is a long-standing partner of the European Tour and always strives for enhancing the experience of its players and visitors,” said Richard Snijders, Managing Director of Volvo Cars The Netherlands.
“Volvo puts people in first place and is a car brand which always thinks of innovative solutions to make life safer. The experience of driving a Volvo is a key element as well.
“The KLM Open is the perfect tournament to show our new Volvo S90 and V90 to the many golf fans who will be visiting the event.”
