The USGA has announced a $500,000 increase in prize money for the US Open, to $3.5 million.
The US Open will be played at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina from June 17-20.
The leading 15 players in the 1998 Volvo Order of Merit, following the Volvo Masters, automatically qualified for the Championship.
