United States hit the front

The United States hold a one shot lead in the early stages of the final round of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup after two birdies moved them to 21 under par.

Gary Woodland and Matt Kuchar

The pairing of Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland began the final day foursomes well with birdies at the opening two holes at the Mission Hills Resort on Hainan Island to leapfrog overnight leaders Ireland.

Ireland slipped back to 20 under par after Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell dropped a shot at the first to sit alongside Germany, who were one-under through two holes, and Australia, who had picked up two shots after four holes.

Netherlands had also moved into contention as birdies at the first and fourth saw them climb to 19-under and join South Africa, who were yet to make any progress from their overnight score.

Five birdies in their opening eight holes saw Zimbabwe climb to 18 under par while England, Wales, Korea and Spain were locked together at 17 under.
