U.S. Open 2024: Guide to the DP World Tour members in action

A host of DP World Tour members, ranging from Major Champions to Ryder Cup stars and players in their rookie season, are among the 156-player field in action at the 124th U.S. Open.

Here’s our guide to the 39 DP World Tour members teeing it up this week at Pinehurst No. 2, North Carolina. We've listed them in alphabetical order.

Ludvig Åberg

After becoming the first player in history to compete in a Ryder Cup before ever playing a Major last September, Ludvig Åberg is making his U.S. Open debut this week. Prior to turning professional in June 2023, the Swede was the top ranked amateur on the World Golf Amateur Rankings and made history as the first player to earn direct access to the PGA TOUR via collegiate merit, finishing first on the 2023 PGA TOUR University Ranking while at Texas Tech. He secured his first win as a professional at the Omega European Masters in September on the DP World Tour. He was then part of the winning European Ryder Cup team in Italy in October, delivering two points from his four matches as a rookie, and earned his first PGA TOUR win at the RSM Classic in November. He finished runner-up in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February and then eighth in his debut at The Players Championship in March, rising inside the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. On his Major debut, at the Masters Tournament in April, he finished solo second.

The left-hander from England will make his U.S. Open debut after booking his ticket to North Carolina through Final Qualifying at Walton Heath last month. While he has also twice qualified for The Open in 2021 and 2022 as an amateur, this will be his first Major start since joining the paid ranks in September 2022. A winner of the prestigious Brabazon Trophy in 2021, Bairstow reached the final of the Amateur Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes a year later, losing to South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter in the 36-hole match. He lifted his first piece of silverware as a professional with victory at the European Challenge Tour’s Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by the R&A as he went on to earn promotion to the DP World Tour where he has recorded four top 20s in his rookie season including solo third in Singapore.

The South African is making his third U.S. Open start, and first since 2021, after being among the top 60 on the Official World Golf Ranking on May 20. Of his ten worldwide professional victories, three have come on the DP World Tour, including two back-to-back in his homeland at the end of 2020. In January, he finished as the runner-up to amateur Nick Dunlap in this year's American Express Championship but collected the first-place check at the PGA TOUR event. The 30-year-old has since finished in the top 20 on a further seven occasions, including at the Memorial Tournament where he finished fourth over the weekend. He represented the International Team in the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Another player who is also set for his third U.S. Open appearance and first in three years after he climbed into the top 60 with a tie for fourth at last month's US PGA Championship. After turning professional in June 2016, following a successful amateur career in which he represented Belgium in three World Amateur Team Championships from 2010-2014. He made the cut in his first 10 professional events, culminating in his win at the 2016 Bridgestone Challenge on the Challenge Tour. In 2018, he won the 2018 World Cup of Golf with partner Thomas Pieters, representing Belgium. He has twice finished solo second on the DP World Tour, while he lost in a play-off to Min Woo Lee that also featured Matt Fitzpatrick at the Scottish Open in 2021. The 31-year-old, who is on track to qualify for this summer's Olympics, reached a career-high 52nd in the world earlier this month after a strong 2024 so far on the PGA TOUR.

That was the same year he made his Ryder Cup debut at Le Golf National. His best performance at a Major came when he finished third at The Open in 2019 at Royal Portrush.

He won his sixth DP World Tour later that year in Scotland at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, a week after helping Europe regain the Ryder Cup in Italy. He has three top-10 finishes so far this season on the PGA TOUR ahead of his milestone tenth U.S. Open start.

He recorded top 10s in both the U.S. Open and The Open, along with the clinching point for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup. The Englishman made a terrific start to 2024, winning the Dubai Invitational in January for his seventh win on the DP World Tour before finishing in a tie for third at the Masters Tournament in April. Expected to represent England alongside Fitzpatrick at this summer's Olympics in France.

He earned his DP World Tour card for the 2019 season by finishing seventh on the Challenge Tour's Order of Merit. In February, he won the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters for his maiden DP World Tour during a great period of success for Japanese golfers. The 28-year-old, a six-time winner in his homeland, has not played competitively through injury since the Porsche Singapore Classic in March.

He turned professional in 2020 and has since amassed five more victories on his home circuit. He finished in a tie for 11th on home soil at the ISPS HANDA - CHAMPIONSHIP in April.

Finished third and then a tie for fourth in back-to-back events on the PGA TOUR in March to climb back into the world’s top 50. He has since won alongside Rory McIlroy at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans before finishing in a tie for sixth at the US PGA Championship.

Gained promotion back to the DP World Tour by finishing ninth on the Challenge Tour's Road to Mallorca Rankings. This is his fifth U.S. Open, having first played at the event in 2011 at Congressional Country Club. To this day, he remains the youngest ever winner on the DP World Tour at the age of 17.

Finished in a tie for second in Palm Beach Gardens in March and also has top 10 this season at the Mexico Open at Vidanta and the Myrtle Beach Classic. His one win on the DP World Tour so far came in Sweden in 2019.

The Englishman, who stepped back from playing on the DP World Tour after the 2022 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to focus on a career as a coach, made a remarkable comeback at Walton Heath in Surrey with rounds of 69, 66 to qualify for Pinehurst.
