Tyrrell Hatton: What's in the bag?

We take a look in the bag of Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winner Tyrrell Hatton.

Most weeks in this column, we are focused on what players have done with their equipment set-up to particularly suit a course or style of course and how it has helped them to victory.

With Hatton's clubs for his third win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, we are left to marvel at his consistency as the over-arching set-up has not only changed very little from his wins in 2016 and 2017, it has changed very little from his DP World Tour debut over 14 years ago.

When he made his debut at the 2010 Open Championship, he carried a driver with 9.5 degrees of loft, a three-wood with 15 degrees, three to nine iron, a pitching wedge, 52, 56 and 60 degree wedges and a TaylorMade, Rossa Corza Ghost putter.

For his win in 2016, he swapped out three iron for a seven wood and also tinkered with his lofts, while using a Ping, Vault Oslo putter.

In 2017, he went for the same set-up and lofts on his wedges, with only slight alterations made to the lofts of his driver and seven wood, throughout a mixture of Ping, TaylorMade and Titleist equipment.

Fast forward seven years for his hat-trick win and the three iron was back in place of the seven wood, although he did end the week with the seven wood back in in place of the tree iron.

Hatton has used a Titleist Pro V1 ball for all of his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship victories.

So while some may endlessly tinker with their set-up, Hatton clearly knows what works for him and sticks to it, with a similar blueprint bringing him seven DP World Tour wins so far.
