Tway basks in the sunshine of the Principality

Former US PGA Champion, Bob Tway, made hay in the sunshine in Wales today, then tackled an altogether different challenge in the interactive zone at the Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex.

The American played brilliantly in carding a four under par 67 at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, before taking time to test his putting stroke in the miniature putting green, the centrepiece of the interactive zone in the Tented Village, which was created by Championship Sponsor, the Principality Building Society.

Tway met Principality CEO, Graham Yorston, and members of staff in the Principality Unit before tackling the modular putting course, pitting his skills against the Chief Executive and also a number of young members of the public.

“It’s been a real joy to play here” declared Tway, whose holed bunker shot against Greg Norman provided a dramatic finish to the 1986 US PGA Championship. “We arrived here on Sunday and played the course. Even though we were all jet-lagged, we were raving about the lay out and we are still raving about it now!”

Yorston added: “We are delighted that Bob played so well today then took time to pay us a visit. It was great that our staff and customers had the chance to meet him and get some photographs.”

If you want to get involved in all the action at The Senior Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl, then hop on the free open top bus to the course. The bus will be going on a loop between 10am and 4pm from Park Dean Holiday Park, via the Promenade to the Golf Course and return. It’s FREE of charge.
