Mark Tullo’s good form continued as the Chilean took over at the top of the Tshwane Open leaderboard midway through the third round.

The 35 year old, whose rookie European Tour campaign in 2011 ended with the heartache of losing his card by just €1,277, returned via last season’s Challenge Tour and was fifth in the Africa Open a fortnight ago.

A shot behind halfway leader Charl Coetzee after the second round was completed this morning – a storm had forced an early finish on Friday – Tullo registered a hat-trick of birdies from the sixth to leapfrog the South African and reach 14 under par for the tournament.

As a result he turned one ahead of Coetzee and his compatriots Dawie Van Der Walt and Darren Fichardt, the first round leader.

Sweden’s Joel Sjöholm and America’s former World Number One amateur Peter Uihlein were a shot further back on 12 under.

Tullo went two clear with a fourth birdie in five holes at the tenth, but Coetzee matched it in the group behind to move into sole possession of second.
