Overnight leader Joost Luiten, Jorge Campillo and Paul Waring shared the lead heading into the final four holes of the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity.
The trio all started to pick up the pace around the turn in Austria as the final pairing shook off some early rust with the putter while Campillo strung together four birdies.
Waring finally found some form with his putter and a ffith birdie of the day at 13 moved his name alongside Luiten’s and Campillo’s at 12 under par.
Moments later Luiten had the chance to put himself clear of his playing partner and the Spaniard. Yet, after reaching the green in two and sending his eagle putt close, the Dutchman raced his birdie effort from two feet past the hole to keep him in a collective share of the lead.
That squandered chance looked to have effected his confidence when he pushed his tee shot from the 14th into the rough down the right - an error which Waring also made - yet both players salvaged par with fine iron shots in.
For much of the afternoon Eduardo De La Riva’s steady stream of pars had kept him in front with Thomas Bjorn - the in-form Dane carding an outward 30 to haul himself into contention.
However, De La Riva remained one adrift of the leaders with Bjorn one further back in the clubhouse after a 64.
Another former Ryder Cup player, Miguel Angel Jiminez, was on 10 under despite striking a sprinkler head on the second and narrowly avoiding water en route to an entertaining par.
