Host sponsors Volvo are renowned for the high quality of all their products and their innovation and foresight – both in terms of motor vehicles and their keenness to take golf to hitherto unchartered golfing territory along with The European Tour, just as they did when establishing the Volvo China Open in the mid-nineties.

This week, the longest-running individual match play tournament in golf has been brought to Kavarna in the eastern European country of Bulgaria, which in turn becomes the 40th different destination that The European Tour has visited in its 41-year history.

Fifty years after the first edition of the World Match Play Championship, when the legendary Arnold Palmer prevailed at Wentworth Club in England, the likes of defending champion Nicolas Colsaerts, Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell, match play aficionado Ian Poulter and many more will be competing for the €800,000 trophy, and now they also have the opportunity to capture three more unique – and lucrative – prizes at a trio of the signature course’s short holes.

The following Volvo vehicles are on offer to the first golfer to make a hole in one at the following par threes during competition play from the opening rounds Thursday through to the final on Sunday.

Hole 7 - Par 3 - 157 Yards - Volvo Backhoe Loader BL61B - Value €55,000

Presented by Volvo Construction Equipment – a versatile loader and excavator capable of all manner of applications, featuring the Volvo Care Cab which provides all-round visibility and safety.

Hole 8 - Par 3 - 231 Yards - Volvo V40 Cross Country - Value €30,000

Presented by Volvo Car Group - the rugged design includes protective body panels, bigger wheels and tyres, and an increased ride height – it incorporates the best of contemporary Scandinavian design, but with added attitude.

Hole 17 - Par 3 - 174 Yards - Volvo FH Truck - Value €115,000

Presented by Volvo Trucks - the strongest truck in the world at 750 horsepower and the perfect choice for transporting heavy goods over long distances.
