The Road to Mallorca remains in Limpopo for the Limpopo Championship, taking place at Euphoria Golf Club and Koro Creek Golf Club. Here’s everything you need to know for the week ahead…
Euphoria Golf Club
Euphoria Golf Club is a stunning bushveld course which is located in the foothills of the Waterberg Mountains, and it is the first 18-hole championship course in Africa to be designed by ten-time Major winner Annika Sörenstam.
The course is very long, measuring over 7,700 yards, however due to the strategically placed bunkers, accuracy of the tee is crucial. The fairways are wide and there is a natural river running through the course which adds the threat of water on some holes.
Ritchie eyeing third win
Road to Mallorca Number One JC Ritchie is targeting his third victory on the 2022 Road to Mallorca and subsequently automatic promotion to the DP World Tour. The South African recorded back-to-back victories on home soil at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open and the Jonsson Workwear Open, taking full advantage of the early season co-sanctioned events between the European Challenge Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
Ritchie is also looking to win the Limpopo Championship for a third time in just four years, after back-to-back victories in 2019 and 2020 at Euphoria Golf Club.
Final event in South Africa
The Limpopo Championship will mark the eighth and final 2022 Road to Mallorca event taking place in South Africa, with the Mount Kilimanjaro Klassic, the ninth co-sanctioned tournament between the Challenge Tour and the Sunshine Tour to take place in Tanzania.
South Africans Tristen Strydom, Ruan Conradie, Deon Germishuys and Luke Jerling join Ritchie inside the top ten on the Rankings and they will be looking to take advantage of the final two events in Africa before the Road to Mallorca heads to Europe.
