Welcome to Tour Tips, a series dedicated to helping amateurs play better golf through the insight of a DP World Tour player.
In this episode, we analyse the key facets that will help you master your putting with the help of Søren Kjeldsen.
The Dane, who made his 700th DP World Tour start at the Porsche European Open in Germany earlier in 2024, believes one fundamental aspect is to train your focus on process under pressure.
For him, the stroke should happen without conscious thought, with the line of the putt the primary concern.
"I read the putt, pick a spot where I want the ball to start and then I am going to keep my mind with that spot, even when I putt," he said.
"The main thing is that I don't mess with the stroke, I don't try to control it, it is more of a feeling of letting the putt go."
Four-time DP World Tour Kjeldsen, who has worked with renowned sports psychologist Bob Rotella, believes the biggest hindrance to his success with the putter is his concentration rather than his stroke.
"If my concentration is there, I think my technique and stroke will be good," he added.
