Paul Lawrie and Thongchai Jaidee were among the early leaders on a congested leaderboard as the Final Series got under way on Thursday at the Turkish Airlines Open.

Glorious conditions greeted the players at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort and former Open Championship winner Lawrie and reigning Open de France champion Jaidee were among those to get to three under in the early stages.

England's David Horsey, India's Anirban Lahiri and Spaniard Pablo Larrazábal were also in the leading group, with 12 players just a shot back.

Scot Lawrie had birdies on the fourth, sixth and seventh in his first seven holes while Thailand's Jaidee made a fast start with gains on the first, third and fourth.

Lahiri has been in fine form on the US PGA Tour and he also birdied three of his first four, as did Larrazábal, with Horsey making three birdies in five holes.

Marc Warren reached the turn in two under and Nino Bertasio, George Coetzee, Thorbjørn Olesen, Darren Fichardt, Mike Lorenzo-Vera, Johan Carlsson, Robert Rock, Julien Quesne, Jeunghun Wang, Li Haotong and local amateur Mutlu Guner were also at that mark.

Danny Willett, chasing a top five to regain top spot in the Race to Dubai this week, was level par after three holes.
