Thrilling battle unfolding in Saint Omer

The 2014 Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open was set for a thrilling finale after Italian Lorenzo Gagli carded four birdies in the space of six holes to join overnight leader Jordi Garcia Pinto of Spain at the top, while several others moved into contention.

Garcia Pinto held a two shot lead heading into the final day after a level par third round of 71, and he stayed steady on the front nine on championship Sunday with nine consecutive pars keeping him at the summit as he reached the turn.

The pressure began to mount from elsewhere, though, as 2010 Challenge Tour graduate Gagli birdied the fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth to step onto the tee four under for the day and move to the top of the leaderboard on six under.

Carlos Aguilar had been on top alongside his playing partner and compatriot Garcia Pinto, after picking up shots at the second and fifth holes but a bogey at the eight meant he fell back one shot off the lead.

Lloyd Kennedy of England was also making a charge towards the top as the 29 year old carded three birdies in a row from the seventh to reach the turn in three under, but a bogey at the tenth meant he dropped to two under for the day and four under for the tournament, two shots off the pace alongside American Tain Lee.
