The European Challenge Tour remains in Denmark this week for the Sydbank Esbjerg Challenge. Here are our Three to Watch at Esbjerg Golfklub…
Jonathan Thomson
Jonathan Thomson, also known as ‘Jigger’, will be making his return to the Challenge Tour after competing on the European Tour at the Cazoo Classic last week. The Englishman made the cut to continue a solid run of form which included an appearance in The 149th Open in July, putting his stamp on the event with a hole-in-one at the par three 16th hole. The 25-year-old will be looking to use his experience on the European Tour in order to have a positive outcome at the Sydbank Esbjerg Challenge this week.
Niklas Regner
Niklas Regner remains in Denmark for the second event of the Danish Swing having had a successful first event at the Made in Esbjerg Challenge – Presented by FREJA & TotalEnergies, finishing in tied second place on five under par behind Portugal’s Ricardo Gouveia. The Austrian has been in fine form of late having recorded four top 20 finishes in the 2021 Road to Mallorca International Schedule, including a tied fourth place at the Open de Bretagne and a tied ninth place at the Challenge de España. The 22-year-old is currently 24th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and is searching for his maiden Challenge Tour title.
Jesper Kennegard
Jesper Kennegard will look to carry on his consistent run of form into the Sydbank Esbjerg Challenge this week after finishing in tied sixth place at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge earlier this month and a tied second place with Niklas Regner and Dodge Kemmer of the United States last week. Kennegard is currently ranked number one on the GolfBox Road to Europe 2021 in the Nordic Golf League and will be looking to use his knowledge of playing in Scandinavia in Denmark this week.
