Three to watch: Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos

Home favourite – Pedro Figueiredo

As the highest ranked Portuguese player in the field this week, Pedro Figueredo is certainly one to keep an eye on. Currently ranked 85th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, Figueredo will be hoping to use home advantage as a catalyst for a strong finish to the season as he looks to reclaim the DP World Tour card which he held from 2019-2021.

Form Horse – Tom McKibbien

The 19-year-old Northern Irishman is in red hot form, with three top ten finishes in his last five stars and six in total for the season. This has seen him surge to 13th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, with a real chance of finishing in a coveted top 20 position.   McKibbien shot four rounds in the 60s two weeks ago at the B-NL Challenge Trophy by Hulencourt, as he took a tie for fourth and will be hoping to carry this excellent form into this week.

Leader – Alexander Knappe

With five events to go before the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R & A, Alexander Knappe is the man at the top of the rankings. The German added his second win of the season last time out in Belgium and is peaking at just the right time of the season, with four top tens in his last five events. Another solid performance here would strengthen his position at the top as he looks to make a return to the DP World Tour.
