Three to watch: Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open

David Shacklady will attempt to win three consecutive Staysure Tour events for the first time since Boonchu Ruangkit accomplished the feat in 2010, but keep an eye on these three players, who will look to claim their own piece of history at the Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open.

Markus Brier

The Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open host has a truly incredible track record in his native Austria. He collected both his first European Challenge Tour win and his first European Tour win on home soil, and now, he will look to complete the sweep as he pursues his first Staysure Tour win at GolfClub Murhof, the same course where he earned his first professional victory back in 2002.

Also looking for his first Staysure Tour win, Thomas Levet knows all about golf in Austria. In addition to his longstanding friendship with Brier, he finished runner-up to home hero Bernd Wiesberger at the 2012 Austrian Open. The six-time European Tour winner, and member of the winning European team at The 2004 Ryder Cup, has been playing golf on the over-50s circuit for almost a year now, and he comes into the week in good form following a tied seventh place finish at last week’s tournament in his native Paris.

Paul Lawrie

Paul Lawrie has wasted no time in adding to his professional win total since joining the Staysure Tour after turning 50-years-old on New Year’s Day. The 1999 Champion Golfer of the Year collected his first Staysure Tour victory last month on home soil at the Scottish Senior Open and the eight-time European Tour winner, and member of the 2012 ‘Miracle at Medinah’ winning Ryder Cup team, will look to add another trophy to his collection when he tees it up alongside Brier and Shacklady at 11:45 am local time when the Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open begins tomorrow.
