Ahead of the first edition of the MCB Tour Championship – Madagascar, we take a look at three players to keep an eye out for at International Golf Club Du Rova.
David Shacklady
One of the players hoping to push Phillip Price all the way in the battle for the Jacobs Trophy. Shacklady won back-to-back titles at The Sinclair Invitational and the Druh Belts presents Paris Legends Championship by Renault Z.E. and occupies fifth place on the Order of Merit.
With six top tens to his name, the Englishman will be aiming to continue his good form and chase down Price, as the gap has become closer and closer following his stunning September which saw him pick up over 1,000 ranking points.
Markus Brier
It is only a matter of time before Brier wins his first Staysure Tour title, having recorded four top fives in his last five starts, including runner-up finishes at The Sinclair Invitational and the Farmfoods European Senior Masters.
The Austrian has only played 26 events on the over-50s circuit since turning 50 in July 2018 but has 11 top tens to his name and comes into the MCB Tour Championship – Madagascar following his hot run of form.
He currently sits in ninth place on the Order of Merit and will be hoping his hot streak continues in the Madagascan sun as he eyes a strong end to 2019.
Phillip Price
It is hard to look past the most consistent player on the Staysure Tour and the current leader on the Order of Merit. Price has enjoyed a successful season, which has been spurred on by his play-off defeat at the 2018 MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles, claiming ten top tens throughout the year, including victory at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship in August.
The Welshman is going in search of a maiden John Jacobs Trophy win and will be aiming to add another triumph to his glowing season as he looks to fend off the chasing pack.
