Ireland’s Ruaidhri McGee has enjoyed a renaissance of late, returning to Challenge Tour action following a period of inactivity. The 31-year-old played only one event through 2020 and 2021 but returned to action at the Empordà Challenge and has not missed a cut since. He finished second at the Blot Open de Bretagne, where he started with a stunning round of 61, before securing his second top ten in France two weeks later at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.
Form horse
Frenchman Robin Sciot-Siegrist has finished inside the top five in each of his last two starts to make a strong move up the Road to Mallorca Rankings. The 28-year-old, who narrowly missed out on graduation to the DP World Tour in 2019, finished second at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, missing out in a play-off to Nathan Kimsey, before tying for fourth place at last week’s Big Green Egg German Challenge powered by VcG. He currently lies 13th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and has the top ten in his sights.
The outsider
This week’s outsider is a man who has only played limited events of late, but is looking to find the type of form that saw him win three times earlier in his career. England’s Robert Dinwiddie won twice in 2007, in Scotland and at the Rolex Trophy, before picking up his third win at the 2010 Kenya Open. In recent years, he has found alternative employment outside of golf but is now attempting to make the most of limited invites to resurrect his golf career. He qualified for The 150th Open at St Andrews and eventually finished in a tie for 53rd place, despite a second round 77.
