The R&A has adjusted its reserve list process for The 149th Open at Royal St George’s due to current requirements for travel to the UK.
The reserve list will include the three highest ranked golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) for week commencing 12 July and then subsequently the leading golfers in the abrdn Scottish Open who have not already qualified for The 149th Open.
In the event of any ties between golfers in the abrdn Scottish Open, OWGR will be used to determine the order of places on the reserve list.
Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director – Championships at The R&A, said, “The current travel requirements for entering the UK make it difficult to ask golfers to travel from overseas to Royal St George’s at short notice and so we have adjusted the reserve list criteria for this year only. It is based on results in the abrdn Scottish Open and the ability of the participating golfers to travel to Kent having already been in the UK for some time.”
