The Jones Gang and Paul Young set to rock BMW PGA

The European Tour is pleased to announce a superb line-up of music entertainment in support of this year’s BMW PGA Championship, taking place at Wentworth Club from May 22-25.  Ticket holders attending the European Tour’s flagship event, featuring no fewer than 10 Major Champions, will not only be treated to one of the world’s greatest golf tournaments but, as the sun goes down, will be able to enjoy live music in the Championship Village.

The Jones Gang

Headlining the music entertainment will be the brilliant Jones Gang, led by The Who’s Kenney Jones, who have now confirmed that the legendary Paul Young will be performing with them on the Saturday evening of this year’s BMW PGA Championship, making a special guest appearance.

The Jones Gang features members of Foreigner, Bad Company, Roxy Music and Procol Harum – a line-up that has quite literally shaped rock history.

Speaking ahead of their appearance at Wentworth, Kenney Jones said: “We can’t wait to play at Wentworth and get the BMW PGA Championship crowd rocking.  It’s a unique event and we are big golf fans, so it’s a gig we’re all really looking forward to. It’s fantastic to have Paul making a guest appearance - we have a great set lined up with him. The atmosphere will be fantastic and we’re all looking forward to signing the Saturday off in style!”

Paul Young added: “I’m really looking forward to playing with Kenney and the Jones Gang on the Saturday evening of the BMW PGA Championship. It will be a first for me, playing at Wentworth, so I’m going to spend the day watching the golf with the family and will then head on down to the Show Stage in the Championship Village for the gig in the evening. It should be a great day and evening – I can’t wait!”

The entertainment and music continues on Sunday evening, when the traditional end-of-tournament band The AllStars, will be entertaining the crowds. Back by popular demand The Allstars, comprising some of the UK’s top session musicians, provide a perfect end to a thrilling week on the British sporting calendar.

Championship Director Jamie Birkmyre commented: “The BMW PGA Championship is The European Tour’s flagship event and every year we are looking at ways to improve the experience for fans, both on and off the course. We have a world-class field playing in the year’s tournament and to have The Jones Gang and Paul Young headlining our Saturday evening music entertainment is fantastic. I’d like to thank Kenney and Foreigner’s Rick Wills for putting the concert on.

“On Sunday evening we’ll then have The Allstars back with us, all included in the price of an entry ticket. It represents fantastic value for money and all adds to the BMW PGA Championship experience.”
