The Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 is the only tournament on the Challenge Tour International Schedule which includes both match play and stroke play formats. The event made its debut appearance in 2017 when Aaron Rai beat Gavin Moynihan in the final.
For the second successive season, the event returns to Valle Romano Golf where Liam Johnston overcame countryman and room-mate for the week Grant Forrest to claim his maiden Challenge Tour title in 2018 en route to graduating to the European Tour at the end of the year.
