The penultimate event on the 2019 Staysure Tour International Schedule took place at the picturesque Constance Lemuria, and it was a week to remember in paradise.

100 not out

Mark Mouland made his 100th start on the Staysure Tour when he teed it up at the MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles.

The Welshman, who won during his rookie season as a senior at the Belas Clube de Campo Senior Open de Portugal in 2011, carded rounds of 69-72-73 to claim a share of 20th at Constance Lemuria.

He has been a regular competitor on the over 50s circuit since his rookie campaign, picking up 14 top ten results in his nine years on the tour, including his win in Portugal.

Baker’s seven shot swing

After an opening round of 73, three over par, Peter Baker was nine shots behind round one leader Gary Orr, sitting in a share of 29th.

However, the Englishman, who won his maiden Staysure Tour title at the Senior Open Hauts de France by Jean van de Velde in June, recorded the joint lowest second round score to leap up the leaderboard.

A bogey-free four under par round of 66, a difference of seven strokes, saw the former Ryder Cup player moved into a tie for sixth place at the end of day. He would consolidate that position following a final round of 70, which maintains his eighth place in the Staysure Tour Order of Merit.

Age just a number

‘Age is just a number’ is a commonly heard phrase when celebrating a birthday, but it is also the mantra for Peter Fowler as he clinched his seventh Staysure Tour title and his first since turning 60 years old in June.

The Australian recorded a one-shot victory over James Kingston following a final round of 67, three under par, and believes that as long as you are fit and healthy, you will have a chance of winning.
