Guido Migliozzi earned his second win of a remarkable rookie season on the European Tour after overcoming Darius van Driel in the final of the innovative Belgian Knockout.
Sunday afternoon's impressive four shot victory brought the curtain down on a week that gave us bumper play-offs, dramatic finishes and huge crowds.

Migliozzi makes it two
Guido Migliozzi had been motoring along steadily since claiming his maiden European Tour victory at the Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa in March, making the cut at each of his next five events but failing to break into the top 20. The Italian was back to his dangerous best in Antwerp, though, finishing in a tie for fifth in Section A after 36 holes of stroke play before beating Pedro Oriol, defending champion Adrian Otaegui and David Law in his first three nine hole knockout matches on Saturday. He continued to shine on Sunday, seeing off last week's winner Bernd Wiesberger in his quarter-final and Scotsman Ewen Ferguson in the last four. The 22-year-old produced a driving masterclass in the final to beat Darius van Driel, with his score of three under par four shots better than the Dutchman's one over. His second victory sends Migliozzi into the top 100 on the Official World Golf Ranking and puts him 21st on the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex.
Birthday to remember for Van Driel
As 30th birthday presents go, second place in a European Tour event and a cheque for €111,110 aren't bad, are they? That's exactly what Van Driel got as he entered his fourth decade on Sunday. Victories against Matthew Southgate and Grégory Havret saw the Dutchman through to the final, where even a four shot defeat to Migliozzi could not dampen his spirits. After the final, he said: "Best birthday present it could possibly give me, except for the win of course. My whole family is here so we'll probably have some drinks and have dinner afterwards."
Play-off drama
Spectacular play-offs were the order of the week at the Belgian Knockout. With both Sections needing to get down to 32 players after 36 holes of stroke play, Lasse Jensen, Max Orrin, Adam Bland, Tom Lewis and James Morrison found out the hard way that 19 into 14 just does not go. Eleven players battled it out for nine spots in Section B, while eight competitors chased five places in Section A. And on Saturday David Law made an eagle on the fourth extra hole in the last-64 to better Ben Evans' birdie. Antoine Rozner and Renato Paratore needed four holes to decide their last-32 tie, with Rozner prevailing having missed a two foot putt for victory on the third extra hole.
Wiesberger's fine form continues
Last week's Made in Denmark presented by FREJA champion Bernd Wiesberger kept the momentum going with another strong performance in Belgium this time out, finishing eighth, but he did not have it all his own way. After posting an opening 76 on day one, he scraped into the weekend by one shot with a brilliant 64 on Friday before showing all of his class in the knockout stages. He was nine under for his 27 holes on Saturday as he qualified for the quarter-finals on day four. However, he was pipped by eventual winner Migliozzi in the last eight, losing by one shot despite a birdie-birdie finish.
Crowds flock to see Detry
After Thomas Pieters narrowly missed out on making the knockout stages, his countryman Thomas Detry was left to fly the flag for host nation Belgium in the last-16. And he had a big crowd following his every move as he suffered a narrow defeat to Gavin Green on Saturday.
