The Crib Sheet: B-NL Challenge Trophy

The Road to Mallorca returns to Holland this week for the BN-L Challenge Trophy. Here’s everything you need to know…

Monty’s Masterpiece

The Dutch

Designed by eight-time European Tour Number One Colin Montgomerie, The Dutch showcases the Scotsman’s vision of bringing the Scottish golf experience to Dutch soil. The course was transformed into a stunning par-71 inland links style Championship Course and has most recently hosted the European Tour’s Dutch Open from 2016 to 2018, with China’s Ashun Wu the latest champion.

The European Challenge Tour returns

Dutch

The B-NL Challenge Trophy will mark the return for the Tour to the Netherlands since the Dutch Futures in 2009. Played at Golfclub Houtrak in Halfweg from 2007 to 2009, Dutchman Taco Remkes claimed victory on home soil in 2008 and went on a remarkable run that year, securing three Challenge Tour victories and finishing third in the Rankings to secure his European Tour card for 2009.

Home advantage

Robbie-Van-West

One man who knows all about The Dutch is local favourite Robbie Van West. The Dutch is Van West’s local attachment course and he recently triumphed on home soil at the 2020 Dutch Futures.

Meanwhile, three-time Challenge Tour winner Daan Huizing returned to form earlier this season when he won the Irish Challenge at Portmarnock Links and currently sits in tenth place on the Road to Mallorca Rankings. The Dutchman will be looking for a strong performance on home soil as he chases European Tour playing rights for the 2022 season.
