The Course: Ayla Golf Club

Designed by Greg Norman, and opened in 2016, Ayla Golf Club will continue to break new ground when it hosts the inaugural Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla from April 4-6.

Jordan’s first fully-grassed championship golf venue will welcome 40 players each from the Staysure Tour, European Challenge Tour and Ladies European Tour, plus three invited amateurs, as they all bid to become the first recipient of the Triquetra Trophy.

Stretching to 7,152 yards, the par 72 layout has a variety of teeing grounds, which will ensure a fair test for all players competing in the Jordan Mixed Open.

Ladies European Tour golfers will play Ayla Golf Club from an approximate 6,139 yards, a familiar and competitive yardage. Before each round, tournament officials from all three tours will take wind and other weather conditions into consideration each day as they establish the course set up, including tees and pin positions.

Staysure Tour members will attempt to card the lowest score in the 54-hole Jordan Mixed Open from an approximate yardage of 6,601 yards, which is seven per cent longer than the Ladies European Tour set up and within the traditional yardage that over-50s golfers play from.

Challenge Tour players will play from all the way back, with their scorecard measuring out to 7,100 yards. Although playing from the furthest yardage, seven percent longer than the set up Staysure Tour members will face and 13.5 per cent longer than the Ladies European Tour set-up, it is a yardage that players on Europe’s top developmental tour regularly face.

The range at Ayla Golf Club

In its short history, Ayla Golf Club has already held some of the regions most prestigious golfing events, including the Pan Arab Men’s Amateur Golf Championship in 2017.

In addition to the 18- hole championship course, Ayla Golf Club also features a state of the art academy, and a fully floodlit 9-hole par three course, which offer players the opportunity to sharpen their skills all night long.
