Sweden climbed into a share of the lead alongside Spain midway through the final round of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup.
With the two highest ranked players at the tournament in 2008 European Tour Order of Merit Winner Robert Karlsson and World Number 12 Henrik Stenson, Sweden were always likely to be in the mix come the fourth round.
And, having started four strokes behind overnight leaders Spain and Australia, they made their move in the foursomes with five birdies on the front nine without dropping a shot to reach the turn at five under for the day and 23 under for the tournament.
Spain, meanwhile, struggled to get into their rhythm early in their round as Miguel Angel Jiménez became visibly frustrated after he teed off into some bushes left of the fairway on the par five third.
Team-mate Pablo Larrazábal made a good recovery to get the ball back onto the fairway but Jiménez’s approach shot didn’t have enough in it as it landed on the edge of the green before rolling back down the fairway.
Larrazábal got the ball to within six feet of the pin to allow Jiménez to save par before they picked up a birdie on the par five seventh to ensure they remained in a share of the lead at the turn.
Australia were one stroke behind Spain and Sweden after two birdies and two bogeys through nine.
The trio are the only real contenders remaining for the title with closest challengers Germany and Japan seven strokes off the lead at 16 under.
England’s Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher continued their impressive performance from Saturday's fourballs into the final round and had climbed up to sixth at 15 under through 13 holes.
The duo combined superbly on the outward nine, carding three birdies and an eagle three on the par five seventh, while the only blot on their scorecard was a bogey on the sixth.
