The stroke play portion of the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth is over and it’s time for Sunday’s knockout match play. Saturday's play confirmed the 24 players who made the 54-hole match play cut of five under par, with nine players battling it out in a play-off for the last eight places. Now, those players will go head-to-head in the six-hole, knockout format until we have a winner.
The top eight players from stroke play, led by Thailand’sProm Meesawat, received a first round bye for the final day, meaning 16 players will tee it up in the first round starting at 7:30 on Sunday morning.
Meesawat, who lead the field by two shots after 54 holes at 12 under par, will face the winner ofSatoshi KodairaandMin Woo Leein the second round. Kodaira is the highest ranked player in the field this week, ranked 37th in the world whilst Lee, just 19 years old, is the only amateur playing in the event.
As for the first round match-ups, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who was the last man into the knockout phase having survived a four-hole play-off with Anthony Quayle, has been draw against Australia’sBen Eccles.
Another Saturday play-off survivor,Poom Saksansin, will hope to mirror his match play form from last month’s EurAsia Cup as he faces Australian veteranMarcus Fraserin the first round. The Thai took down Henrik Stenson in the opening day fourballs in Malaysia, before beating World Number 17 Paul Casey in the Singles.
2014 Perth International championThorbjorn Olesen is looking for his third win in Australia in four years and qualified for Sunday tied second after three impressive rounds. Seeded fourth, he will face the winner of Pavit Tangkamolprasert andCallan O’Reilly.
