Andy Sullivan has overtaken Sam Horsfield at the top of the UK Swing Order of Merit following his record-breaking victory at the English Championship.

The Englishman, who’s latest win has moved him from 10th to first in the mini Order of Merit, ended the week seven strokes clear of Adrian Otaegui on 27 under par, subsequently running up the lowest recorded 72-hole score in European Tour history, of 257.

Sullivan began the UK Swing with a tied fourth finish at the Betfred British Masters and ended the week tied 41st at the Hero Open before assuming with his first win on Tour since the 2015 Portugal Masters.

He holds a narrow lead of 28.76 points over Rasmus Højgaard, who continued to impress with a third place finish at Hanbury Manor, becoming the only player to record three consecutive top 10s in the first three week’s of the UK Swing.

Behind Højgaard is Hero Open winner Sam Horsfield, followed by Betfred British Masters champion Renato Paratore, and last week’s runner-up Otaegui. Thomas Detry, Justin Harding, Chris Paisley, Alexander Bjork and Robert Rock make up the rest of the current top 10.

With three events left in the UK Swing there is still plenty to play for, including the chance to qualify for the U.S. Open. The USGA have confirmed that the top 10 aggregate points earners in the mini Order of Merit that are not otherwise exempt at the conclusion of the fifth event – the Wales Open at Celtic Manor - will be exempt for the rescheduled U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club on September 17-20.

As part of the new Golf for Good initiative - which underpins all events for the remainder of the 2020 season - a mini order of merit will run for all six events in the UK Swing, with the top ten sharing an additional £250,000 to donate to charities of their choice.
