Tournament Director Daan Slooter helped launch the KLM Open by opening the Dutch Stock Exchange in Amsterdam.
The honour, signalled by the sounding of a gong, has become a tradition at the start of the tournament and marked 100 years since the first KLM Open was played in 1912.
