Henrik Stenson followed the example of Graeme Storm to move inside the top ten in the KLM Open.
Storm is in pole position to claim a second European Tour title, having kept a bogey off his card up until the 13th hole of his third round at Hilversumsche GC.
Should the Englishman slip up, Stenson is among those best placed to take advantage following a faultless 64 that lifted him to eight under.
“Obviously it was nice to have a tidy card like that with six birdies and no bogeys,” said the Swede.
“I hit some lovely shots and I wasn’t really in trouble. I kept it on the fairway and on the greens all the way round.
“I said to my caddy on 18 that Graeme Storm had played 46 holes without a bogey and it took me two holes to make a double on Thursday.
“I tried to stay away from doubles yesterday and made a few bogeys, then I tried to stay away from the bogeys today and that worked, so tomorrow I will try to stay away from pars and just make birdies!”
Stenson admits he is still short of full fitness, having suffered an unfortunate setback when on holiday over the winter.
“I have been struggling a little bit with the health,” he revealed.
“I have a parasite from a holiday last December and it has caused inflation in the stomach, so I have been on medication.
“It isn’t 100 per cent right yet. It is tough to play. I’m just trying to see the positives in my game though. It’s been a great week so far.”
