There will be 13 Staysure Tour members teeing it up at the Regions Tradition, the first Senior Major of the season, at Greystone Golf Club, Alabama from May 9-12.
Miguel Ángel Jiménez claimed his first Senior Major title at last year’s Regions Tradition, following rounds of 64-69-66-70 for a two-stroke victory, before going on to triumph at The Home of Golf later that season, winning The Senior Open Presented by Rolex at St Andrews.
The Spaniard returns to Alabama to defend his title and will be joined in the field by two-time Regions Tradition winner and ten-time Senior Major star Bernhard Langer. The German is one of an elite group of four players to have won the event in consecutive years; Jack Nicklaus (1990 and 1991, 1995 and 1996), Gil Morgan (1997 and 1998), and Tom Lehman (2011 and 2012).
Fellow Regions Tradition champions and Staysure Tour members David Frost, who triumphed in 2013, and 2007 winner Mark McNulty will also tee it up this week.
The 31st edition of the event will see several Staysure Tour members make their Senior Major debut, including 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie and 2003 US PGA Championship winner Shaun Micheel, who both joined the over-50s circuit at the turn of the year.
The 13 Staysure Tour members are; Paul Broadhurst, Darren Clarke, Frost, Jiménez, Langer, Lawrie, McNulty, Micheel, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal, Jesper Parnevik, Vijay Singh, and Ian Woosnam.
