Following the close of entries for the Nairobi event – which takes place from March 14-17 at Karen Country Club – a total of 15 European Tour champions are set to tee it up in the Kenyan capital.

Among the international talent expected to take part, former Ryder Cup Captain and 15-time European Tour winner Thomas Bjørn headlines the field, alongside rising stars Shubhankar Sharma and Renato Paratore.

The unique swing of Ho-sung Choi will also be on show in Nairobi in this year’s Magical Kenya Open, with the internet sensation set to play in a European Tour event for the first time in four years.

Also in the field are three of the last four winners of the Magical Kenya Open, most notably South Africa’s Haydn Porteous who has gone on to triumph twice on the European Tour since winning the title in Nairobi four years ago, when it was a European Challenge Tour event.

First played in 1967, the historic event will host a European Tour tournament for the first time this year, having formed part of the Challenge Tour’s International Schedule since 1991.

All those competing will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of some of the game’s greatest players, with Major Champions Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and Trevor Immelman having all triumphed in the East African event in the past.

Tickets for this year’s Magical Kenya Open can be purchased via the websitewww.kenyaopen.golf.
