SSE Scottish Senior Open resumed at 1pm

Play in the first round of the SSE Scottish Senior Open resumed at 1pm following a 3 hour 45minute suspension at 9.15am due to heavy rain at Fairmont St Andrews.

With the Torrance Course waterlogged following heavy overnight rain and further downpours on Friday morning, play was stopped with the first group only through six holes. Of the early starters, Englishman Mark Belsham followed a bogey on the opening hole with a birdie on the second and was level par through two holes, while Philip Golding, Mark Mouland and Paul Wesselingh all opening with a par.

Defending champion Barry Lane, playing with former World Number One Ian Woosnam and last year's European Senior Tour Order of Merit winner Peter Fowler, did not get the start he wanted as he chases a hat-trick of titles.

While his playing partners both began with pars, Lane double bogyed the first hole following the re-start.
