South Africans strike first as 2018 MCB Tour Championship-Mauritius is launched

The South African pair of David Frost and Chris Williams started their weeks with a victory after defeating teams from three other nations in a prelude to the 2018 MCB Tour Championship-Mauritius at Constance Belle Mare Plage.

Taking on Clark Dennis and Tom Lehman of the United States, Paul Broadhurst and Barry Lane from England, the French pair of Marc Farry and Jean-Francois Remesy and Mauritian duo Raoul Gufflet and Sebastien Pilot in a four-hole strokeplay foursomes match, they finished one stroke ahead of the pair from England and the USA.

Hosted by Gufflet, Deputy CEO of Mauritius Commercial Bank, Jean-Jacques Vallet, CEO of Constance Hotels, Resorts and Golf, and Pilot, Director of Golf at Constance Belle Mare Plage, Frost and Williams birdied their third hole, the 16th, and par was enough on the 18th and last hole of the challenge to secure victory.

This year's MCB Tour Championship-Mauritius is the first event of the inaugural Indian Ocean Swing, which concludes at Constance Lemuria in Seychelles next week and brings a close to the 2018 Staysure Tour season.

With 50 of the Staysure Tour's finest taking part this week, competition will be fierce for the 30 places available at next week's season-ending event.

The top 29 from the Order of Merit and three invitations will make up the 32-man field in the first-ever professional golf tournament to be held in the Seychelles.
