Ryder Cup stars Rafa Cabrera Bello and Bernd Wiesberger will tee it up at the Soudal Open for the first time at Rinkven International Golf Club from May 12-15.
They will join home favourites Thomas Pieters, Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Detry, as Belgium’s national open returns to the DP World Tour schedule in 2022.
Cabrera Bello, a four-time winner, has enjoyed a fast start to the season and is currently ranked fifth in the DP World Tour Rankings following his tied second finish at the opening Rolex Series tournament of the year in Abu Dhabi.
Wiesberger, meanwhile, has eight DP World Tour victories to his name and the Austrian will be looking to find the form that led to his rookie debut in the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits last September.
Home favourite Pieters is currently second in the DP World Tour Rankings following his victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and will once again tee it up at his home course on the outskirts of Antwerp.
In exciting news for Belgian golf fans, ten spots in this year’s U.S. Open will be available via the 2022 European Qualifying Series comprising four DP World Tour events, including the Soudal Open.
The USGA has confirmed the spots in the field at The Country Club, Brookline, will be allocated to the top ten aggregate points earners, not otherwise exempt, at the conclusion of the mini-series consisting of: the Betfred British Masters Hosted by Danny Willett (May 5-8), the Soudal Open (May 12-15), Dutch Open (May 26-29) and the Porsche European Open (June 2-5).
