Snedeker gets to grips with Natadola Bay

Brandt Snedeker was happy with his position heading into the weekend as he extended his bogey-free streak at the Fiji International to 34 holes.

The American made a bogey on his second hole on Thursday and admitted after an opening 69 that he was still getting used to his surroundings.

He appears to have quickly gotten to grips with Natadola Bay Golf Course now, though, with no further bogeys and a second-round 65 moving him within one of the lead.

And with windy conditions expected over the weekend, Snedeker was glad to have made the best of the relative calm of days one and two.

"I had another really good day today, I drove the ball fantastic and had a lot of opportunities," he said.

"Pretty solid, pretty happy with the way I played. I didn't make a bogey, each time you do that you're doing something right so hopefully I can build on this tomorrow.

"It's going to be two more tough days. There's a lot of wind we're meant to be having this weekend and this golf course can jump up and bite you really quick so hopefully I can steer away from big numbers and keep playing the way I am.

"I'm comfortable with where I am going into the weekend. There's a lot of golf left. To get out there with the conditions I've had, to take advantage of them was the most important thing."

First-round leader Anthony Houston was also ten under after a 69 and was happy to follow up well on his opening 65.

"In the past I've learned that you can't get carried away and just expect to do it again so i just hit the tee-shot and hit the second shot and just kept going from there," said the Australian.

"Sometimes in big events it's easy to get safe and just try and make the cut because these tournaments are pretty big for Australian pros.

"Today I felt like I'm not playing amazing but I'm in a good mental state and just hitting shots I know I can hit instead of the ones I want to hit.

"It got windy for our last six, seven holes and that made it really tough along the ovean on the back nine but it just makes you think about your shots. If you're smart you can make a score."
